Who are you?  

I go by K.L.S. Some of you may know me from my embarrassing tumblr blog, animentality (had it since I was 15, try not to judge me too harshly). Some of you might know me from Archive of Our Own, Twitter (@KLSomniate). Maybe some of you know me from my books...or hey, maybe you just randomly found this website.  In any case, glad to have you here!

How old are you?

Pfft, you really think I'm gonna waste precious time updating this question every year? Old. Next!

Race, gender, pronouns, sexuality, other identifications? 

I'm nonbinary. He/they pronouns. I'm a panromantic asexual, so I can fall in love at any moment, but I don't care about sex when it isn't plot relevant. I'm not white, but I don't care to be more specific than that.

Neurodivergent? 

Extremely.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a professional writer and editor. I'm also a novelist, been writing novels since I was 17. And no, I do not take breaks.  I have a mental illness that has me firing on all cylinders, all the time. I'm never not writing, editing, or beta reading. ​

What genres do you write? 

I love making weird, dark, but colorful little fantasy, sci fi, and horror worlds. I prefer character building over the boring technical details of worldbuilding, though. Characters always come first, world building next, and plot last. And I love angst. 

​

What do you do besides writing?

I LOVE movies. I am obsessed with them. I can watch pretty much any genre, if the characters are good and the writing is airtight. Please recommend me your favorite movies.

 

I watch some select TV shows (ones that don't suck), but have a hard time committing to them, since a lot of them suck and are too long. I also love blogging about random shit. I like making asinine social media posts. I love monsters, aliens, and demons. I'm a maladaptive daydreamer, so... I do that a lot. Most of the time.

What are your goals? 

To be published traditionally...to find success self publishing...to hang out with my friends and have a wonderful life. Not necessarily in that order.

 

I may trad publish one day, but right now? I have stories to tell, and I'm not always concerned with how marketable they are, or how formulaic. I will always write what I'm passionate about. My stories have a place in this world, and I'll decide where it is, before anyone else does.

Can I ask you directly about lore?

Absolutely. I love talking about my characters, worlds, and lore. I won't spoil anything until the series is over, though, so I may be a little cryptic. 

​

Where can I do this?

Do you do book signings? 

Right now, I don't think anyone's interested in that, but I could. All you have to do is ask.

Do you have merchandise? 

Not at this time.

How can I support you as a fan?

Signing up for the newsletter, following my socials, buying my books, leaving reviews, telling your friends about me...just general stuff. Donating to my Ko-fi would be nice too, since I use all money received there for paying cover creators, beta readers, and character artists. But really, I'm just happy if you buy a book, or read one for free on Kindle Unlimited!

What's with the weird rat stuff? Fetish, or...?

My friends jokingly compare me to a rat, since I'm small, grungy, intelligent for an animal, and am obsessed with cheese. I used to go by Rat King on discord and steam, but changed it later to Dance of the Rat.

 

Why dance?

Because I can hear music that no one else can hear, not yet. But you can see me dance. Follow along. Memorize the steps.
